This site provides an account of the natural history observed while hiking along many of the trails in our PATC region and beyond.  The field notes are presented using a more or less standard format, with topics addressing the various forms of plant and animal life found in our forests.

Common names used for wildflowers come from Newcomb's Wildflower Guide.  Woody plant names come from the Peterson Field Guide to Trees and Shrubs.
