This webpage provides deer and bear annual harvests from 1915 to 1999. For the 1999 season, there were 1,740 bear and 378,592 deer taken statewide. Click on "Hunter info" at the top for the main hunting webpage.
Regarding the 1999 small game harvest in Pennsylvania, 715,862 cottontails (down from 911,003 in 1998 and a high of 2,137,737 in 1985); 2,412 snowshoe hares (down from a high of 14,412 in 1987); and 1,236,108 squirrels were taken (down from a high of 2,833,061 in 1986).
The 1999-2000 was the first bobcat season in PA, with a harvest of 58.
There is no season for fisher or otter.
The statewide estimate for black bears is 8,000 and 1.4 million deer.
